The Westering 2 property lies on the west side of the Kennedy River, approximately 35 kilometres east of Tofino, BC. Local topography is moderate to steep, with elevations ranging from 10 to 600 metres. The area drains east to Kennedy River, with the western part of the property lying on the steep slopes of Mount Maitland.

The area is underlain by massive fine-grained andesitic flows of the Upper Triassic Karmutsen Formation (Vancouver Group), and dacite lapilli tuff, probably of Tertiary age. Northeast striking, steeply dipping joints are widespread and are frequently dilated and infilled with auriferous quartz veinlets. The veinlets dip steeply and vary from 0.1 to 10 centimetres wide. Individual veins comprise coarsely crystalline quartz, approximately 10 per cent calcite and up to 2 per cent sulphides, which include pyrrhotite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, arsenopyrite and sphalerite.

At the North zone, northeast-striking quartz veins making up to 1 per cent of the rock volume, occur over a 200-metre width and a 400-metre length in dacite lapilli tuff. Eight composite samples of vein material assayed from 0.53 to 18.4 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 16473). One hundred sixty metres to the north (Esther claim), several quartz veins contained gold values. One sample of vein material over 3 metres assayed 29 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 16473).

Early work was directed toward prospecting for and minor production from narrow, high-grade fissure-controlled quartz veins such as those of the Bear, Rose Marie and Leora properties.

In addition, some work was done on the iron (magnetite) deposits on Mount Maitland. These deposits lie within three reverted Crown grants along the western boundary of the Westering claim group.

In 1986, claim owner Walter Guppy conducted prospecting and soil sampling over an area 300 metres east-west by 500 metres north-south, centred on the old shaft. Soil geochem values ranged up to 1.99 grams per tonne gold. A significant outcrop within the anomalous area is cut by auriferous quartz veinlets similar in nature and attitude to those of the Tommy property, 3 kilometres northeast (Assessment Report 22625).

In March 1987, the property was optioned to Kerr Addison Mines Limited and that spring a program of detailed mapping and surface sampling was carried out on the eastern edge of the property to outline and evaluate the sheeted quartz vein zones known to occur on the Westering and nearby Tommy claim groups. The work outlined several zones of sheeted auriferous quartz veinlets up to 200 metres wide and several hundred metres long. The best exposure sampling returned an average of 0.7 gram per tonne gold across 16.6 metres. Further sampling to expand the areas of known mineralization and to define drill targets was recommended. Kerr Addison dropped its option in 1988.

In 1992, an exploration program was carried out on the claim group. The most significant discovery was a quartz vein that was partially exposed in a cut on the side of Road "L". Results showed that the Fossicker Vein carried potentially economic values of gold if sufficient quantities of similar material could be discovered. The vein itself is narrow, but values of 12.8 and 9.69 grams per tonne gold were considered promising (Assessment Report 22625).

Between November 1 and December 15, 2008, the Kennedy Lake Syndicate completed a geological compilation for the Kennedy Lake property, compiled a GIS database for the project area and completed a prospecting trip to collect samples for petrographic work from within the Guppy zone. A total of 12 vein and wallrock samples from outcrop and float within the Guppy zone were collected (Assessment Report 30944).

In 2010, Gonzaga Resources completed a program of rock and soil sampling and an induced polarization survey on the area. During 2011 through 2014, Gonzaga Resources Ltd. completed programs of rock and soil sampling on the area, outlining an anomalous gold area south of the WESTERING 2 occurrence.
